Ferry is building an AI-powered platform that transforms healthcare navigation. The company operates an SMS-based concierge service that helps patients find and book care appointments, while also enabling hospitals, insurers, and digital health companies to streamline their operations. The core problem: patients and medical staff waste countless hours navigating complex insurance policies and outdated scheduling systems.
In this role, you'll work on three main areas:
1. **AI Agent Development & Reliability**: Ferry's AI agents call doctors' offices across the country to ask questions and book appointments. You'll predict and handle edge cases that inevitably arise when LLMs interact with real-world healthcare systems. This involves building robust error handling, fallback mechanisms, and ensuring the system gracefully manages unexpected scenarios.
2. **User Experience & Outcomes**: You'll design and build interfaces that prioritize patient outcomes over engagement metrics. The goal is to handle complex care coordination behind the scenes so users spend minimal time in the app and maximum time receiving care.
3. **Distributed Systems & Scaling**: Each patient referral triggers an elaborate pipeline: integrating multiple data sources, orchestrating dozens of automated phone calls, and coordinating with patients via text. As Ferry scales to millions of patients, you'll solve increasingly complex problems in reliability, performance, and system orchestration.
The tech stack includes Next.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and Terraform. You'll work in a small, mission-driven team focused on turning frustrating healthcare experiences into delightful ones.
**Requirements:**
- Excellent programming skills and strong computer science fundamentals
- Experience across full-stack web development technologies (Next.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Terraform preferred)
- Passion for building user experiences that deliver real value
- Strong communication skills and ability to advocate for ideas
