Mintlify is a documentation platform serving 100+ million developers annually and powering docs for 20,000+ companies including Anthropic, Microsoft, PayPal, Spotify, Coinbase, and X. The company recently raised a $45M Series B led by A16Z and Salesforce Ventures and is scaling from 65 employees.
As Senior Platform Engineer, you will own critical infrastructure systems from architecture through production. You'll set technical direction, raise the quality bar, and help the engineering team build and operate software faster and more reliably.
Key responsibilities:
- Own critical platform systems: architect and operate the infrastructure, services, and tooling that Mintlify's engineers and products depend on
- Set direction for developer velocity: improve how the team builds, tests, deploys, and operates software, leading necessary migrations
- Scale the platform for growth: evolve compute, databases, queues, caching, and edge systems as products and customer base expand
- Drive operational excellence: improve observability, incident response, and operational automation while reducing on-call toil
- Raise the engineering bar: review designs, establish technical standards, mentor engineers, and improve team effectiveness
Example projects include re-architecting the backend to support new traffic levels, supporting multi-cloud deployments across regional and customer-managed environments, and building AI-first developer tools with agent-driven APIs.
The engineering team values craft, speed, and thoughtful execution. Engineers have high agency as product builders and drive strategic decisions. You'll have heads-down builder time on a small, mighty team where the best ideas win, with ownership of projects and immediate impact visibility.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 4 years of professional software development experience
- Deep experience with cloud infrastructure, infrastructure as code, distributed systems, CI/CD, observability, and operating large-scale production software
- Demonstrated leadership of critical infrastructure projects from architecture through production
- Strong ability to make thoughtful tradeoffs across reliability, developer velocity, performance, security, and cost
- Strong product intuition and care for developer experience created by systems you build
- Comfortable working across infrastructure and application code to solve problems completely
- Experience mentoring engineers, sharing technical knowledge, and improving team practices
- Plus: experience with AWS, MongoDB, Postgres, Redis, and Node.js
