We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical team in Dublin to design rugged edge technology equipment. This is a senior role that will lead projects and develop and mentor junior team members. You will have a strong background in mechanical design, specializing in design principles and processes including sheetmetal, turned/milled, injection molded, cast, and extruded parts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Primary role is enclosure design using various design principles and processes (sheetmetal, turned/milled, injection molded, cast, extruded parts)
- Liaise with the Hardware team on PCBA and cable design
- Generate parts on PLM system
- Liaise with suppliers to get custom parts built
- Spec off-the-shelf components and source for prototype build
- Product prototype assembly/disassembly, including development of build instructions and product development documentation
- Validate design through environmental testing in contracted test labs to applicable standards (MIL-810-H)
- Work through the prototype process to finalized design ready for production
- Define and handover mechanical BOM to NPI team via PLM system
- General engineering support throughout the product lifecycle
- Generate and maintain all product development documentation at all stages
- Carry out product inspections, investigate product failures, part measurements
- Liaise with Production Test and Quality teams throughout development and product lifecycle
Requirements:
- Degree Qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 7 years previous design experience in an R&D environment
- 3D modelling skills (Creo Parametric, Siemens NX or similar)
- Industrial and manufacturing knowledge or experience
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management systems (Creo Windchill, Teamcentre or similar) advantageous
- Experience with ERP systems like SAP Business One or Oracle desirable but not essential
