Checkout.com is a global fintech platform powering over 10 billion transactions yearly for more than one billion shoppers worldwide. The company operates 20 offices across six continents and serves major clients including eBay, Spotify, Klarna, Uber, and Sony.
As a Software Engineer, you will develop next-generation payments technologies that help merchants boost acceptance rates, reduce processing costs, and fight fraud. You'll work on projects critical to Checkout's strategic goals, with opportunities to switch teams and projects as the business evolves.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions
- Define and design loosely coupled, scalable systems using microservices architecture and industry best practices
- Write clean, maintainable, extendable, and testable code on high-impact systems
- Build, own, and operate systems to the highest levels of resilience and service
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management and the broader engineering community
- Stay current with the latest technologies and spread knowledge across the team
- Mentor junior team members and assist in their technical development
- Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
The role offers a hybrid working model with three days per week in the office to support collaboration and connection. You'll work in a fast-paced environment focused on building products that achieve strategic goals, with real ownership, fewer blockers, and meaningful work from day one.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Proficiency in .NET C#, Java, Go, or Python, with strong understanding of software development principles in backend or full-stack environments
- Great communication skills and ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Experience working in agile environments and delivering high-quality code within tight deadlines
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Payments or financial knowledge is a plus but not required
