Chariot is building modern, end-to-end payment infrastructure for nonprofits, processing over $1.8B in annualized payment volume. The company operates in a $600B charitable giving market with tens of thousands of nonprofits already onboarded, including American Cancer Society, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and University of Pennsylvania. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will take a leadership role in evolving Chariot's banking and DAF (Donor Advised Fund) products and technology strategy. You'll manage and build backend server applications and components that power the platform, contribute to API and system architecture, and help define team standards and best practices. You'll work closely with the CEO and founding engineering team to scale the platform to support existing and upcoming contracts in the pipeline. Key responsibilities include: - Designing and implementing performant, scalable backend systems using Go, Node, Docker, Terraform, and Kubernetes - Contributing to architecture decisions for APIs, backend systems, and applications - Improving real-time and analytical monitoring and alerting capabilities - Generating ideas for new initiatives and technologies - Mentoring and building out a growing team of software engineers - Executing project plans and delivery commitments in an Agile/Scrum environment - Collaborating with founders, product managers, and other developers You should have 4+ years of software development experience with 2+ years specifically as a backend application developer. Strong proficiency with Go, Node, Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes, Postgres, REST APIs, and gRPC is required. Experience with fintech, payments, nonprofit sector, and AWS is a plus. The ideal candidate is forward-thinking, hands-on, has strong ownership and delivery drive, and is a good mentor. Chariot operates in-person Monday-Thursday from their NYC office with Friday work-from-home flexibility.
