Celonis is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join the team responsible for maintaining and evolving the on-premises Process Mining application while supporting customer migration to the cloud-based Celonis Platform SaaS solution.
In this role, you will take ownership of the full product lifecycle—from investigation and implementation through delivery to customers. Your responsibilities include maintaining project stability and security, updating dependencies, implementing new standards and protocols, and continuously improving software reliability. You'll support on-premises customers in their migration journey to the modern cloud platform and help automate development processes.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, 3-6 years of hands-on software engineering experience, and strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate frameworks. You should have experience with microservices-based distributed systems, understand enterprise challenges such as security, compliance, scalability, and data consistency, and possess strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Experience in geographically distributed work environments and a solid grasp of complex data structures and algorithms in data management are essential.
Highly desired skills include experience with AI-powered IDEs and code generation tools, demonstrating adaptability to learn new programming languages as business needs evolve.
