Budibase is hiring Software Engineers to help build the next generation of its open-source platform. The company has 28k GitHub stars and is used by teams worldwide to build apps, automate workflows, connect to data, and deploy AI agents for operational work.
You'll join one of Budibase's product engineering teams and contribute to meaningful parts of the platform. Work could span: building and improving the app-building experience, developing workflow and automation capabilities, creating AI agents that use tools and data, building integrations with external systems and APIs, and improving performance, reliability, security, and permissions.
The ideal candidate is a mid-level Software Engineer with strong engineering fundamentals and good product instincts. You should have professional software engineering experience, strong JavaScript or TypeScript fundamentals, and comfort working across frontend and backend. You'll have shipped real product features to users, care about usability and product quality, and can take problems through to production. Experience with AI coding tools and curiosity about how AI is changing software development is valued.
Useful (but not required) experience includes TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, React, Svelte, full-stack SaaS products, databases, APIs, third-party integrations, workflow or automation products, internal tools, low-code or developer tools, LLMs, agents, tool calling, or other AI capabilities, and open-source or self-hosted software.
Success looks like starting to contribute quickly alongside experienced engineers, shipping improvements to Budibase, and taking ownership of increasingly substantial pieces of work as you become familiar with the product and codebase. The company is particularly interested in engineers in Belfast and across Northern Ireland, though Budibase is fully remote and happy to meet candidates for coffee locally.
The role offers a fully remote position with regular company get-togethers, an optional 4-day work week, £45k–£60k plus stock options, and a company with 24 months runway and close to profitability.
