Beacon Software is building an agentic operating system for private equity portfolio operations. The company has raised $550M+ from top-tier investors including General Catalyst, Lightspeed, and D1 Capital, with backing from founders of Stripe, DoorDash, and Ramp.
As a Forward Deployed Software Engineer, you will embed directly with internal business units—Finance, Legal, M&A, and Operations—to identify operational bottlenecks and deploy agentic AI tools that automate and scale core workflows. This is a hands-on role where you ship production code from day one.
Key responsibilities:
- Embed with internal business leaders to understand workflows and identify high-leverage automation opportunities
- Map out key processes (financial reporting, contract review, deal sourcing, diligence parsing) where LLM-native applications create impact
- Build and deploy agentic tools, including integrations, prompts, evaluations, and user interfaces
- Monitor production systems, gather feedback, refine prompts, and tune autonomy parameters
- Document architecture and patterns to enable core engineering teams to scale solutions across the firm
- Serve as the technical bridge between engineering and business stakeholders
You will work on transforming how Beacon operates internally, compressing complex domain knowledge into scalable, automated workflows that increase firm efficiency.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 1–4 years of full-time software engineering experience
- Strong fluency in Python, TypeScript, or Go
- Hands-on experience building projects or applications using LLM APIs, prompt engineering, or agentic frameworks (beyond simple chatbots)
- Product-minded and inquisitive; enjoy working directly with end-users and solving business problems with code
- High autonomy and proactive execution; thrive in ambiguous environments and adapt quickly to feedback
- Curious about business operations; want to understand finance, legal, and M&A functions at a tech-focused capital allocation firm
- Clear communicator; express ideas clearly in writing and explain technical choices to non-technical partners
BONUS:
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, or vector databases
- Experience building custom tooling using LLMs, autonomous agents, or workflow automation tools
