Salary: USD 80,000 - 140,000 / annual
iCapital is seeking a Backend Software Engineer at the Associate or Assistant Vice President level to design, build, and operate services powering the iCapital platform. You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and technical partners throughout the development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain cloud-based services and APIs
• Translate product and business needs into practical technical solutions
• Own projects from design through production rollout and ongoing support
• Write maintainable code and contribute to technical design decisions
• Participate in code reviews and improve engineering standards
• Build testing, observability, security, and operational readiness into services
• Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve delivery, investigation, and learning
Required Qualifications:
• 3–5+ years of experience with modern programming languages (Ruby, Scala, Python, Java, or TypeScript)
• Experience building or integrating with APIs and backend services
• Knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases and data modeling
• Familiarity with automated testing, version control, and modern software delivery practices
• Understanding of cloud application development and distributed systems
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools to plan work, refine specifications, and validate implementation quality
The company values strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to learn new technologies. Prior experience with specific languages is not required. The role is hybrid, with office presence Monday–Thursday and remote flexibility on Friday. Compensation includes base salary ($80k–$140k), equity, performance bonus, matched retirement, subsidized healthcare (100% employer-paid dental/vision), telemedicine, mental health counseling, parental leave, and unlimited PTO.
