Clay is a $5B-valued SaaS platform that helps organizations turn growth ideas into reality through AI-powered data enrichment and workflow automation. The company recently raised a $100M Series C and crossed $100M in revenue, backed by Sequoia, CapitalG, and First Round.
You'll join Clay's AI team working on agent systems—not just text generation, but autonomous systems that research, enrich, and take action on behalf of users. The role bridges product, research, and engineering to close the gap between demo-ready agents and production-reliable systems that can run unattended.
Depending on your background, you'll be matched to one of two focus areas:
**Agent Products**: Design and iterate on agent behavior across real go-to-market workflows (e.g., sourcing TAM lists, building audiences, enrichment). You'll map manual multi-step workflows and transform them into agent-driven flows. You'll build and run evals that measure actual task completion (not just plausible output), analyze production failures systematically, and shepherd agent flows from prototype through beta to general availability.
**Agent Platform & Infrastructure**: Build the core agent harness that other teams depend on—memory systems, tool infrastructure, retrieval architecture. You'll improve agent performance through prompting strategies, tool-use design, and context construction. You'll design guardrails and safety checks, build a cross-surface evals framework, create feedback loops from production logs into better prompts and tools, and support teams building custom agent variants.
You'll work closely with product, research-adjacent teammates, and other engineers. The job is about turning model improvements into measurable gains in task completion, reliability, and time saved for users.
You should have production experience with LLMs or agents (prompting, tool-use, orchestration, retrieval, extraction, or fine-tuning)—not just prototyping. Strong backend fundamentals (APIs, databases, distributed systems) are essential since agent features run inside real production infrastructure. Experience designing and measuring evals is a plus.
