Salary: CAD 120,000 - 200,000 / annual

FOSSA is a Series B, rapidly growing platform that helps engineering and legal teams manage open-source compliance, security, and regulatory complexity. The company serves thousands of organizations, automating license compliance, vulnerability prioritization, SBOM generation, and regulatory requirements. FOSSA is distributed globally with roots in San Francisco. As a Software Engineer on the team, you will work across the full stack to bring features from ideation through implementation. You'll own user-impacting features end-to-end, from conception to completion, and have significant influence on technical architecture and product roadmap decisions. Your day-to-day work is flexible—in a lean engineering team, you'll also contribute to product, customer success, and growth initiatives. Key responsibilities include: - Planning, designing, building, and refining core product features in collaboration with the full company - Owning features end-to-end with significant technical ownership - Contributing to technical architecture and product roadmap - Working across multiple languages including Rust, Go, TypeScript, and Haskell - Participating in on-call rotation - Mentoring and being mentored by teammates You bring 3+ years of backend engineering experience and expertise in building scalable SaaS products. You're proficient with relational databases and writing performant SQL queries. You have hands-on experience with AI coding tools in production environments and observability tooling. You excel at breaking down complex problems, driving toward solutions, and communicating clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders. You thrive in environments that favor prototypes over proposals, are proactive in sharing ideas, and have strong attention to detail. You're growth-minded, willing to learn continuously, and able to mentor others.
