Salary: USD 150,000 - 230,000 / annual
Genius AI is building an agentic workforce—AI systems that act autonomously on behalf of appointment-based business owners. The company's products (GlossGenius, Reception, and others) handle admin work like booking, marketing, client management, finances, and inventory for local service businesses. To date, Genius AI technology has saved businesses 106M admin hours, generated $2.0B in additional revenue, and facilitated 624M+ client touchpoints across 120,000+ businesses.
This role offers two career paths: product engineers who work at the intersection of AI capabilities and customer problems, shipping agentic features directly to businesses; and platform engineers who build the scalable, reliable infrastructure enabling those AI products. Both paths require building with AI as a default layer, not an occasional tool.
Key responsibilities include architecting and shipping AI-powered features that create net-new capabilities (not wrappers around existing tools); building and maintaining large-scale systems processing billions in payments with reliability and performance as non-negotiables; using AI to architect, debug, write, and review code; owning work end-to-end from technical design through production; building platform infrastructure that removes friction for product teams; and challenging existing approaches when you see better paths.
The ideal candidate has 2+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated ownership of production systems, not just team contributions. You should have shipped AI-powered features or systems (beyond AI-assisted editors), move fast and iterate rather than over-plan, think analytically about efficiency and scalability before systems break, operate with entrepreneurial ownership, and collaborate to make engineers around you better.
Tech stack includes Kotlin (Micronaut, jOOQ), gRPC, protobuf, TypeScript/JavaScript (React, Redux), React Native, AWS, Kubernetes, Postgres, and Terraform. The role is hybrid in NYC with 3–4 days per week in-office, with required attendance on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
