Genius AI is building an agentic workforce—AI systems that act autonomously on behalf of appointment-based business owners. The company's suite of products (GlossGenius, Reception, and others) automates admin work for local service businesses: booking, marketing, client management, finances, staff and inventory management. To date, Genius AI technology has saved businesses 106M admin hours, generated $2.0B in additional revenue, and facilitated 624M+ client touchpoints across 120,000+ businesses.
You'll join as a Software Engineer on one of two paths: product engineers ship AI-powered features directly to customers, architecting net-new capabilities that weren't possible before; platform engineers build the scalable, reliable infrastructure that makes those AI products possible at scale. Both paths require you to build with AI as a default layer—not an occasional tool—and own your work end-to-end from technical design through production.
Key responsibilities include: architecting and shipping AI-powered features that transform how service businesses operate; building and maintaining large-scale systems processing billions in payments with 120,000+ business users; using AI to architect, debug, write, and review code; owning work end-to-end with full accountability for performance; building platform infrastructure that removes friction for product teams; and challenging the status quo on architecture and process.
The company works with Kotlin (Micronaut, jOOQ), gRPC, protobuf, TypeScript/JavaScript (React, Redux), React Native, AWS, Kubernetes, Postgres, and Terraform.
You'll need 2+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated ownership of production systems (not just team contributions); hands-on experience shipping AI-powered features or systems (beyond AI-assisted editors); a bias toward shipping real work and iterating rather than over-planning; strong analytical instincts for efficiency, scalability, and reliability; an entrepreneurial ownership mindset; and a collaborative approach that elevates the engineers around you.
