Figma is seeking an experienced AI Product Engineer to lead the development and implementation of generative AI systems that enhance the design platform. You will work at the intersection of AI research and product engineering, collaborating with cross-functional teams including software engineers, product managers, and data scientists to shape the future of AI capabilities within Figma's design tools.
Key responsibilities include leading the development of early-phase AI systems to improve user experience, establishing metrics to measure and optimize AI performance, and breaking down complex AI problems into actionable engineering strategies. You will mentor team members on AI and data best practices, contribute to hiring and team growth, and own the full lifecycle of AI product development—from model selection and prototyping through production deployment and maintenance.
You'll have the opportunity to work on 0→1 projects, translating abstract modeling and analysis into concrete business value. The role emphasizes both technical depth in generative AI and the ability to connect AI capabilities to user and business outcomes.
This is a full-time position available from Figma's San Francisco or New York offices, with remote work options within the United States. The role is designed for someone with 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 1+ years building generative AI products, who has demonstrated success shipping early-phase AI systems end-to-end.
