LEAP is a leading legal practice management software provider serving over 71,000 lawyers globally. The Matter Issues team is a fast-moving AI venture building risk-aware legal intelligence systems within LEAP's broader LegalTech ecosystem.
In this role, you'll work across the full stack—designing, building, and refining systems that power risk-aware AI inside law firms worldwide. You'll develop core features and APIs for the AI risk management platform, model and structure risk insights that feed into AI systems via MCP, and integrate with LEAP's emerging agentic AI ecosystem including the Free Thinking Paralegal and Matter AI.
Key responsibilities include building scalable, resilient backend services and polished frontend experiences; contributing to architectural decisions and technical direction; ensuring high reliability, observability, and performance; prototyping and refining AI-driven features that leverage LLMs effectively; and owning features end-to-end from idea to release in a low-bureaucracy, startup-like environment backed by enterprise resources.
You'll bring 3–6 years of professional full-stack engineering experience with proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Node.js. Strong understanding of APIs, backend development, and databases is essential. Clear communication skills are valued. Nice-to-have experience includes work with AI/LLMs, automation workflows, agent systems, LegalTech, SaaS products, or early-stage tech teams.
LEAP offers flexible and hybrid working arrangements (based in Sydney but open to flexibility), full autonomy and trust to make real impact, opportunities to grow your career within a 30-year-old LegalTech founder's organization, and comprehensive benefits including paid wellbeing days, gym membership, corporate dental, weekly massages, catered meals, and a unique home-buying support program.
