As a Software Engineer on the Agentic Infrastructure team, you will own and evolve the systems that power Vercel's build and deployment lifecycle at massive scale. Millions of builds flow through Vercel's systems daily, and this role focuses on the infrastructure that makes that possible—from webhook handling to resilient database schemas and scalable APIs.
You will design and operate high-performance microservices, lead projects end-to-end from identifying opportunities through delivery, and collaborate across teams to align infrastructure with company-wide goals. You'll shape the long-term vision of agentic infrastructure by setting standards for scalability, reliability, and developer productivity. The role includes participation in on-call rotations for critical systems, contributions to open-source projects, and writing clean, efficient, well-tested code.
This position blends product thinking with deep systems ownership. You'll partner with teams across Vercel to build and operate infrastructure that determines how modern software ships, with a focus on improving both developer and agent experience.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of experience designing, building, and operating backend applications and distributed systems at scale
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript with ability to navigate and improve complex systems
- Strong proficiency with AWS cloud infrastructure and infrastructure as code (Terraform)
- Track record of end-to-end ownership from design through long-term production operation
- Skilled at cross-team collaboration, able to influence priorities and drive alignment
- Ability to reason about technical direction and architectural tradeoffs
- Investment in mentoring and raising team standards
- Curiosity and motivation to push boundaries of modern software development
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with React or Next.js
- Experience with DynamoDB
- Experience developing CI/CD platforms or internal developer platforms
- Open-source contributions
- Experience optimizing build systems for monorepos or polyrepo setups
- Experience with build caching, artifact storage, or dependency management at scale
