Sierra is building a platform for enterprises to create better customer experiences with AI agents. The Retail team within Agent Engineering supports major consumer brands including Gap, Wayfair, Sonos, and ADT, handling hundreds of millions of shopper and vendor interactions across web, app, phone, and in-store channels annually. As a Software Engineer on the Retail team, you will design and deliver production-grade AI agents that are mission-critical and drive revenue directly. You'll own the complete Agent Development Life Cycle (ADLC) from initial pilot through deployment and continuous iteration, building, tuning, and evolving AI agents in production environments. Your work will be central to Sierra's growth, not prototype work—these are powerful, scalable systems running at enterprise scale. You'll partner directly with leaders at Fortune 500 enterprises and cutting-edge startups to understand their most pressing business challenges and build AI agents that transform how they operate. Recent projects include abstracting complex commerce systems into scalable packages for order management and fulfillment, shipping full discovery-to-checkout lifecycle flows with personalized shopping experiences, and building production-grade agents serving global brands at unprecedented volumes during peak traffic periods. Your direct customer work will guide the evolution of Sierra's core platform. You'll surface unmet needs, prototype new tools and features, and collaborate with research, product, and platform teams to shape the future of AI agent development. You bring experience building and scaling end-to-end production systems, strong technical problem-solving skills in fast-changing environments, and a builder's mindset with high agency. You're comfortable working directly with customers, communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences, and have genuine excitement about the retail space and helping world-class brands innovate.
