BlueRock is a well-funded early-stage cybersecurity company seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own the language-runtime sensors—the instrumentation layer that provides real-time visibility into AI agent execution. This role sits at the intersection of runtime engineering and AI safety, building the low-latency hooks that enable policy engines to make real-time block decisions.
You will design and build runtime instrumentation across Node.js and Python to track AI agent execution paths in real time, seeing what agents are actually doing as it happens. Key responsibilities include architecting sensor systems for low-latency execution tracking, pioneering hooks and interceptors for emerging protocols (like MCP) and LLM SDKs, and engineering automated systems to detect and surface upstream SDK shifts before they impact runtime behavior. You'll also enforce strict execution overhead budgets to ensure guardrails never compromise host agent performance.
The ideal candidate brings production mastery in both Node.js and Python, with deep experience in dynamic module loading, monkey-patching, and low-level runtime interception. You need systems and FFI fundamentals—comfort bridging managed runtimes into compiled binaries (Rust, C, C++) with solid understanding of memory management, thread safety, and dynamic linking. Async execution expertise is critical: you must deeply understand non-blocking control flow (asyncio, Node event loop) to ensure hooks never block host applications. You should have a proven track record building resilient software on top of fast-evolving third-party SDKs and uncooperative runtimes, with a diagnostic mindset for hunting down race conditions, memory leaks, and silent failures across runtime boundaries.
