Vercel is building agentic infrastructure for the next generation of software development. The company has shaped web development for over a decade through products like Next.js, v0, and AI SDK, and now focuses on creating a platform where software is built, extended, and operated by AI agents.
You'll join the Vercel Agent team, a small group with an outsized mandate working directly with leadership and cross-functional teams (product, design, infrastructure). The mission is to make deploying on Vercel feel like adding a seasoned infrastructure engineer to your team.
The Vercel Agent currently ships multiple products: automated code review on every PR, AI-driven investigation of production anomalies, an intelligent support agent that resolves most customer issues without human intervention, and conversational code generation. The team is now unifying these into a single agent that appears across surfaces (dashboard, CLI, Slack, and more) with capabilities for multi-step reasoning, sandboxed code execution, and real actions on behalf of users.
Key focus areas include self-driving infrastructure (automating 90% of manual DevOps work) and framework-defined agents (customized per customer's application with injected skills rather than generic best practices).
You will design and build core agent capabilities, work on multi-step reasoning and planning systems, integrate with Vercel's platform infrastructure, collaborate across teams to define self-driving infrastructure, and help shape the future of agentic software development.
The role is hybrid with anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday if based within commuting distance of SF, NY, London, or Berlin offices.
