Tako is an AI platform for people operations, built to solve Brazil's bureaucratic complexity that drains time, money, and energy from growing businesses. The company combines deterministic applications (payroll, real-time calculations) with AI agents that handle labor law complexity. Products include Tako Payroll & People Ops (end-to-end employee lifecycle management with real-time calculation and eSocial integration) and Tako Recruiter (AI-powered candidate interviews integrated with existing ATS systems). Otto, an intelligence layer, keeps labor law, collective agreements, and jurisprudence live within payroll systems. The engineering team is lean and builds infrastructure supporting both products. Work is data-intensive and asynchronous-process-heavy, using TypeScript on serverless AWS architecture, with government integrations and regulatory flows. The team averages three hours of meetings per week with no change management committees or unnecessary meetings. Each person has direct context on problems, makes decisions, and owns results. Product, Design, and Operations work as equals with engineering.
As a Software Engineer, you will develop and evolve data-intensive products with asynchronous processes, contributing to scalable microsservices and APIs that support customer payroll operations. This is a position for rapid growth in a high technical complexity environment. You'll participate in architecture discussions from day one with direct problem context and space to propose solutions, learning from experienced engineers and working with production code.
Responsibilities include: developing and evolving data-intensive products and asynchronous processes in TypeScript on serverless AWS; collaborating on scalable, high-performance microsservices and APIs; implementing solutions ensuring quality, scalability, and consistency; participating in technical discussions and proposing architectural improvements; working with agile methodologies and continuous delivery; writing clean, testable, well-documented code; collaborating cross-functionally for high-impact results; and participating in code reviews and knowledge sharing.

Requirements:
- Knowledge of software development best practices
- Experience with JavaScript and TypeScript, or willingness to learn
- Familiarity with distributed systems and microservices architecture
- Cloud computing knowledge, preferably AWS
- Experience with agile development methodologies
