Netflix's Finance and Tax Technology team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and deliver scalable solutions supporting global Finance and Tax operations. You will work in a rapid development environment, collaborating closely with internal business stakeholders to understand use cases and build end-to-end applications that meet both internal needs and external regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include designing and delivering scalable backend and frontend solutions; working with Finance and Tax teams to translate business requirements into technical implementations; forging cross-functional relationships across finance and engineering teams; driving features independently from requirements through production launch and post-launch support; and developing APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-based services. You will bring strong object-oriented programming skills in Java and Python (or equivalent), with solid computer science fundamentals. Required expertise includes gRPC, GraphQL, or RESTful API design; relational databases (MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL); testing frameworks and high-quality code practices; and familiarity with front-end development using JavaScript/TypeScript and React or similar frameworks. You should have experience with GenAI and AI-assisted engineering tools, applying sound judgment in validating outputs. Additional qualifications include thorough knowledge of the finance domain (revenue, payments, tax); strong understanding of software development lifecycle and QA processes; excellent communication skills both written and verbal; and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with business partners, architects, engineers, and stakeholders. You are self-driven, prioritize effectively, and focus on impact. Netflix offers competitive compensation ($250,000–$413,000 annually, based on location and experience), flexible stock options, comprehensive health benefits, mental health support, 401(k) matching, disability programs, family-forming benefits, and flexible paid time off for salaried employees.
