Abnormal AI is seeking a Software Engineer 2 (Backend) to join the Federated Intelligence Platform team in Bangalore. This team manages the ingestion, storage, and retrieval of critical entity insights and threat indicators that power core detection and the customer portal. You will design and maintain high-volume ingestion and low-latency services across global infrastructure, handling hundreds of millions of events daily.
Key responsibilities include: building performant APIs that serve as sources of truth for multiple systems; designing and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency systems for threat detection; establishing reliable data pipelines; enhancing frameworks for agile API and dataset changes; developing scalable backend integrations with external applications; owning complex feature delivery from design through launch; and maintaining SLAs/SLOs for critical systems.
You will also conduct thorough testing (unit and integration), diagnose and fix issues using debugging tools, drive overall system quality, provide operational support and on-call coverage, participate in code reviews and system design discussions, mentor junior team members, and contribute to knowledge sharing.
The role requires strong communication skills in both synchronous and asynchronous contexts, comfort with ambiguity and building systems from scratch, and the ability to refine vague requirements by collaborating across teams. You'll work in a distributed team environment and take end-to-end ownership of features.
Required qualifications: 3+ years of software engineering experience; 1+ year designing complex distributed systems; proven experience with highly scalable and available distributed systems; expertise with data pipelines (event-driven and synchronous); proficiency in Golang or Python; AWS cloud platform experience; Spark framework knowledge; and demonstrated end-to-end ownership of projects.
