Salary: CAD 150,000 - 190,000 / annual
Xanadu is building quantum computers that are useful and accessible globally. As a Software Development Manager, you will lead a software development team of up to 10 direct reports, focusing on people management, organizational excellence, and strategic alignment. This role requires a technical background but does not require quantum computing experience.
Key responsibilities include: managing software developers through regular one-on-ones and career development; setting quarterly and yearly targets with clear performance accountability; partnering with department heads on headcount planning, recruitment, and onboarding; running efficient Agile processes to maximize team velocity; collaborating with tech leads on roadmap scoping and quarterly delivery plans; working with Product Owners on ticket writing and requirements; breaking down silos to align teams with company priorities; identifying opportunities for high-impact initiatives; guiding complex technical decisions and resolving ambiguous problems; managing technical debt while ensuring long-term architectural health; and ensuring timely milestone execution.
Required qualifications: 1–2 years as a formal people manager or technical team lead; strong foundational knowledge equivalent to a senior individual contributor; hands-on experience with Python and Git; deep familiarity with Agile workflows and full-stack projects; expertise in AWS, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code; exceptional cross-functional communication skills; natural empathy and conflict resolution abilities; comfort in fast-paced environments.
Preferred qualifications: 2–5 years as a Software Development Manager; basic physics and quantum computing knowledge; semiconductor industry familiarity; experience with Docker, IaC, AWS, or Google Cloud; proficiency with NextJS, React, Python, GraphQL, Terraform, and SQL.
This is a new position. Base salary: CAD 150,000–190,000, plus equity and benefits.
