AppDirect is a subscription commerce platform enabling organizations to sell any product through any channel on any device as a service. The company powers millions of subscriptions worldwide and is looking for a Senior Software Engineer in Montreal to join their platform team.
In this role, you will architect and build scalable systems that process high volumes of transactions. You'll help shape the integration ecosystem as AppDirect scales with new use cases and extensibility areas. Key responsibilities include designing fault-tolerant systems to minimize customer impact during failures, participating in the migration to a microservice-oriented architecture, and owning features end-to-end across the full stack.
You are a highly technical, hands-on PHP developer with 5+ years of relevant experience. You have strong working knowledge of PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL, with expertise in REST and GraphQL API design. You're comfortable with web service technologies and take pride in building production-grade code that you then support and maintain in live environments.
The ideal candidate has a strong product mindset and can make sound technical trade-offs. You understand when to go deep yourself versus partnering with specialists, and you maintain solid fundamentals across infrastructure, backend, data, frontend, and delivery. You're experienced with AI-assisted development tools (L2–L3 level), using coding agents for bounded tasks with review and delegating feature-sized work while owning design intent, test strategy, and merge quality.
You have a proven track record of delivering end-to-end business solutions and experience developing in multiple programming languages. Fluency in both French and English is required. You thrive in collaborative environments and are passionate about driving value through innovative solutions.
