Clockwork Systems, founded by Stanford researchers and veteran systems engineers, is building software-driven fabrics to increase GPU cluster utilization and optimize AI infrastructure. The company delivers cross-stack observability, workload fault tolerance, and performance acceleration for distributed computing environments.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on test automation and CI/CD infrastructure—not manual QA. You will own the entire testing and CI/CD pipeline, ensuring quality and reliability of every release before it reaches customers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and maintain integration and regression tests for distributed systems
- Own and maintain CI/CD testing infrastructure and pipelines
- Ensure all code releases meet high quality standards before shipping
- Collaborate with engineers to identify test coverage gaps and build tools/frameworks to address them
- Investigate and diagnose build failures, flaky tests, and regressions
- Contribute to broader engineering efforts (feature development, tooling) when appropriate
You'll need 3+ years of experience in test engineering, DevOps, or QA with a strong technical background. Required skills include expertise in automated test scripts using any programming language, proven experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and testing frameworks (pytest, playwright, etc.), and strong debugging and problem-solving abilities. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems is a plus.
The role offers the opportunity to be part of a foundational team shaping the future of infrastructure software, work in a collaborative onsite environment in Palo Alto, and grow into broader engineering roles. The company provides competitive compensation, equity participation, and a benefits package including catered lunch.
