F5 is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to implement and test customer-specific scenarios for F5's AI, BIG-IP, Nginx, and F5 Distributed Cloud products, with a focus on application delivery and security. The role centers on creating and automating test scenarios across F5's Application Delivery and Security Platform (ADSP), including AI solutions (AI Guardrails, AI Gateway, AI Red Teaming, LLM Model Security and Observability), app delivery (BIG-IP traffic management), security (Nginx WAF), and automation (F5 XC orchestration).
You will work both independently and with senior engineers to understand product requirements, customer scenarios, architecture, and new feature designs. Key responsibilities include publishing and creating technical content and demos for internal teams and customers, implementing automated tests and infrastructure providing feature coverage across ADSP categories, developing automated test systems to replicate real-world scenarios for continuous integration environments, and actively participating in code review processes. You will analyze test results, report on product issues, and assist in their resolution while maintaining proactive communication about status and resolution plans.
The role involves working with geographically dispersed teams across multiple feature areas and collaborating with internal personnel in areas of expertise. You will build relationships with team members and accept ownership of assigned features, utilizing various troubleshooting tools and facilities to debug issues.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of professional experience in testing and/or development of computer software, preferably in Linux environment
- Strong programming skills in Python for automation, tooling, validation, and security research
- Good knowledge of security and networking
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Proficiency in L2/L3 network protocol testing
- Strong experience in networking and working knowledge of HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP
- Experience with GitHub or other source control management tools preferred
- CI/CD and Agile software development experience
- Strong organizational skills, analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving/troubleshooting skills
- BA/BS degree in computer/engineering related field or equivalent work experience
- Experience working with geographically dispersed teams preferred
- Knowledge of any one cloud technology (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is an added advantage
- Knowledge of OWASP API Security and LLM is an added advantage
