The HD Maps team is at the forefront of geospatial big-data analytics, deploying GIS algorithmic solutions into scalable cloud applications for ADAS, autonomous vehicles, and non-automotive GIS customers. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain algorithmic components for cloud-based mapping applications. You'll implement scalable data processing solutions using Python, SQL, AWS, and Apache Spark, working on features that power high-precision mapping products. You'll collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams to integrate analytics solutions, participate in code reviews, and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes. Key responsibilities include: - Design and develop algorithmic components for cloud applications - Implement scalable solutions using Python, SQL, AWS, and Spark - Participate in feature design and implementation for cloud-based mapping products - Collaborate with senior engineers to improve system performance, reliability, and scalability - Work with product managers and engineering teams to deliver customer-aligned solutions - Contribute to code reviews, testing, and development process improvements Required qualifications: - Strong programming skills in Python, Scala, or Java - Experience building data processing applications or pipelines on AWS or similar cloud platforms - Strong SQL skills with understanding of query execution and optimization - Knowledge of distributed computing concepts and frameworks like Spark - Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or Luigi) - Understanding of software engineering best practices (version control, testing, code reviews) - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Excellent English communication skills Nice-to-have experience includes data visualization libraries, mapping/navigation/automotive industry exposure, machine learning for geospatial analysis, and open-source contributions.
