Salary: USD 185,000 - 210,000 / annual
Mill is a waste prevention technology company building smart systems and infrastructure for homes, businesses, and municipalities that transform food scraps into valuable resources. The company has deployed tens of thousands of residential food recyclers and is launching Mill Commercial, an end-to-end solution for managing and preventing food waste in commercial environments like grocery stores, restaurants, and food services.
You will serve as Program Manager for the Mill Commercial software platform, acting as the central coordinator for multiple software teams (Fleet Management, UI, Data Integrations). This is a strategic and execution-oriented role combining organizational leadership with hands-on program management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Track resourcing across software teams and applications, flagging gaps or conflicts before they become blockers
- Serve as Scrum Master and Jira lead for the Software Applications & Data team
- Own third-party data integrations, managing customer and partner relationships, sample data requests, schema, and API connections
- Build and maintain integrated software deployment schedules across Fleet Management, UI Design, and Data Integrations
- Run regular executive updates on resourcing, scheduling, and budget
- Translate shifting requirements into shared priorities that engineering, product, and partners can plan against
- Surface risks, blockers, and scope creep with sufficient context for rapid executive decision-making
- Map dependencies across teams (software, firmware, data, computer vision) to identify cascading impacts
You will work in a fast-paced, complex environment requiring detail-oriented leadership that brings clarity to ambiguity and maintains alignment across multiple technical disciplines.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of software program management, with strong preference for software products with physical hardware components
- Gen 1 software product experience: organized development of complex, first-generation software products
- Software and firmware knowledge: worked with both on-device software and cloud-based applications for device monitoring and control
- Data integration expertise: experience with native APIs, flat-file ingestion; AI-powered workflows a plus
- Strong cross-functional execution: keep engineering, product, operations, and sales coordinated; run meetings that produce clear decisions and owners
- Technical depth: comfortable engaging substantively with engineers on tradeoffs; know when to escalate
- Shipped multiple software products: taken more than one through late-stage development, pilot, and commercial deployment
- Clear, direct communicator: write status updates and requirements that get read; distill messy technical problems into concise executive asks or one-page partner briefs
- Fluent with AI tools: use AI-powered tools daily for summarizing meetings, drafting requirements, synthesizing data; help team find similar leverage
- Advanced with program management tools (Jira, Notion, etc.); experience running Scrum rituals including Scrum of Scrums
- Experience coordinating dependencies across multiple engineering disciplines (full stack, computer vision, data integration)
