Qover is a leading insurtech scale-up that has raised $100 million and operates a platform protecting 15M+ users across 32 European countries. The platform powers embedded insurance experiences for major partners including Revolut, Mastercard, BMW, Canyon, and Monzo.
As a Site Reliability & Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in keeping the platform reliable, scalable, secure, and performant. You'll combine software engineering and infrastructure expertise to improve how services are built, deployed, and operated, with a strong focus on automation, observability, and developer experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, automating, and maintaining cloud infrastructure supporting millions of users across 32 countries, balancing performance, security, and cost
- Defining and evolving SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets; building effective monitoring, alerting, and observability practices using metrics, logs, and distributed tracing
- Improving CI/CD, infrastructure provisioning, deployments, and shared platform tooling; contributing to internal libraries and SDKs that simplify service interactions with infrastructure
- Leading incident response, troubleshooting complex production issues, and driving blameless postmortems and lasting improvements
- Proactively identifying risks, strengthening security and resilience, and preventing recurring problems
- Raising the technical bar through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring
- Thoughtfully exploring AI-assisted tools to improve productivity, automation, troubleshooting, and documentation
The role is hybrid-friendly with flexibility: up to three days remote per week and the ability to work from anywhere one month per year. The Brussels office at WeWork (Rue du Commerce 31) serves as a collaboration hub with team events and social activities.
Qover values pragmatic builders who care about clean code and shipping, adaptable explorers comfortable with scale-up ambiguity, clear communicators who collaborate across functions, and constructive, kind co-workers who enjoy mentoring.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong professional experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, or similar infrastructure-focused engineering roles (typically 3+ years)
- Strong understanding of observability and production reliability, including monitoring, distributed tracing, incident response, and practical application of SLIs and SLOs
- Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure and architecture, ideally on Google Cloud Platform (GCP); AWS or Azure experience equally valuable if comfortable adapting
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar), with focus on building reliable, maintainable infrastructure
- Strong programming fundamentals and ability to navigate, understand, and contribute to production backend code; familiarity with microservices, asynchronous messaging, data persistence, and distributed systems; primary language is TypeScript but value experience with other languages and adaptability
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and improving developer experience through tooling and self-service capabilities
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability; ability to empower engineering teams to own reliability and operation of their services
