MinIO is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to work on its cloud-native object storage platform that serves as the data and memory foundation for enterprise AI. The role combines DevOps and software engineering to enhance, optimize, validate, and automate MinIO's storage platform for high performance, scalability, and durability.
You will work closely with both customers and the engineering team to ensure MinIO delivers exceptional quality and performance for demanding workloads. Key responsibilities include enhancing core MinIO software for performance and security, building high-performance distributed storage solutions with cloud-native architectures, validating software against customer environments, improving existing features, fixing critical issues, and contributing to open-source repositories. You'll conduct performance benchmarking and debugging of complex storage environments, collaborate with engineers on architecture and API refinement, and work directly with customers to address issues and manage expectations.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, plus 5+ years of professional software engineering experience. You should have expertise in DevOps, GitOps, automation and testing frameworks, distributed systems, networking, or high-performance computing. Cloud-native technology experience (Kubernetes, containers, microservices) is essential. Strong proficiency in Go is desired, or deep experience in C/C++/Rust with willingness to learn Go. Deep understanding of storage systems, file systems, or databases is required.
You should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, experience debugging complex large-scale applications, and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset. Open-source contributions are a plus. The ideal candidate has empathy for customers, self-motivation, attention to detail, and a passion for innovation and staying current with technology trends.
