Salary: USD 145,000 - 250,000 / annual
OpenTeams, founded by Travis Oliphant (creator of NumPy and SciPy), is building AI infrastructure that enterprises and governments can own, control, and govern themselves. The company is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer / DevSecOps Engineer to design and operate the secure delivery pipeline for an AI/ML platform deployed into tightly controlled government environments.
In this role, you will own the end-to-end software supply chain, building CI/CD pipelines that produce hardened, signed release artifacts with software bills of materials (SBOM), integrated vulnerability scanning, policy enforcement, and secrets management. The pipeline must function in air-gapped and limited-connectivity environments, automatically generating compliance evidence and audit artifacts rather than requiring manual assembly under deadline.
Key responsibilities include: building and operating the CI/CD pipeline with versioned, signed packages and hardened container images; executing promotion cadences through government-approved transfer mechanisms; integrating vulnerability management and continuous monitoring so accreditation evidence is generated once and reused; working with security engineers to align pipeline outputs to RMF (Risk Management Framework) requirements; defining and tracking service level objectives using Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry; leading incident response and postmortems; operating sanitized defect and telemetry feedback paths; enforcing dependency constraints for target environments; and maintaining deployment runbooks and operational documentation to government review standards.
You will also share responsibility for platform reliability once deployed, including observability, alerting, and incident response. The role requires deep familiarity with formal compliance frameworks, the ability to distinguish between pipelines that pass security reviews and those that produce the review itself, and hands-on experience packaging or promoting software into air-gapped or disconnected environments.
This position is contingent upon contract award. Travel up to 15% may be required, primarily to government facilities. Unclassified work may be performed remotely; classified work requires onsite presence in an accredited facility with appropriate security clearance.
