Skydio is the leading US autonomous drone company, serving defense, public safety, and enterprise customers. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will own the design, operation, and scaling of the cloud infrastructure powering Skydio's products—critical systems that help save lives in defense and emergency response scenarios.
You will be a hands-on engineer responsible for production Kubernetes/EKS clusters, AWS infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, observability, and reliability. Key responsibilities include: building and operating production Kubernetes clusters; performing upgrades, node rollouts, and cluster maintenance; managing AWS infrastructure (VPCs, networking, load balancers, IAM, EKS, databases, storage); defining and maintaining infrastructure as code; building and operating CI/CD and deployment systems; troubleshooting production issues across Kubernetes, AWS, Linux, networking, and databases; implementing monitoring, alerting, and observability; participating in on-call rotations; identifying and solving scaling and reliability problems; automating operational work with Python or Go; and expanding infrastructure across new regions and deployment environments.
You should have 3+ years of production infrastructure experience (SRE, DevOps, Production Engineering, or equivalent). Required skills include strong hands-on Kubernetes operation (not just deployment), EKS/Kubernetes upgrade experience, AWS fundamentals (VPCs, subnets, networking, load balancers, EKS, IAM, databases), Terraform or similar IaC tooling, CI/CD system experience (Argo CD, Spinnaker, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins), and the ability to diagnose production infrastructure and networking problems. Bonus experience includes Helm, GitOps, Datadog, PostgreSQL/database operations, multi-region infrastructure, on-premises/disconnected deployments, and streaming/high-throughput distributed systems.
Note: This position requires access to export-controlled technical data and U.S. government security clearance eligibility. Employment is contingent on U.S. person status verification and ability to access controlled information.
