Kong is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join its cloud services team in Milan. You will be responsible for architecting and operating large-scale infrastructure that powers Kong's API and AI connectivity platform, trusted by Fortune 500 companies and startups.
Key responsibilities include building and maintaining core infrastructure as code using Terraform and Ansible, implementing robust monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to achieve 99.99% uptime, and resolving production incidents through systematic debugging and blameless post-mortems. You will write automation to reduce operational toil, improve system efficiency, and enable self-service capabilities for engineering teams. Collaboration with developers is essential to embed reliability and scalability best practices into the application lifecycle.
Additional duties include contributing to capacity planning, disaster recovery drills, and security hardening processes, as well as participating in a fair and sustainable on-call rotation.
You should have experience operating production workloads on major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure), proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (Golang, Python, or Bash), and hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code principles, CI/CD concepts and tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins), and modern observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) are highly valued.
