Salary: USD 100,000 - 160,000 / annual
General Matter is a venture-backed nuclear fuel enrichment company backed by Founders Fund and over a dozen top-tier VC firms. The company is building and operating the world's lowest-cost uranium enrichment services in the US, enabling the nuclear renaissance by making nuclear energy the most affordable baseload power source.
The Site Materials and Logistics Manager oversees planning, procurement, storage, distribution, and quality control of all materials used on the General Matter Paducah Project Site. This role ensures materials are delivered on time, in correct quantities, and meet all engineering and safety specifications. The manager works closely with project managers, superintendents, procurement teams, vendors, and onsite personnel to maintain efficient material flow and support successful project execution.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing logistics of all project materials and equipment to ensure availability for construction scopes
- Planning, forecasting, and coordinating material and equipment deliveries to project teams and subcontractors
- Evaluating daily schedules and projections to accurately track project needs
- Conducting Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) to ensure safe, compliant work environments; attending weekly safety meetings
- Coordinating subcontractor work methods, schedules, and crews
- Maintaining detailed material inventories; tracking deliveries, usage, and shortages
- Overseeing onsite material receiving, inspection, storage, maintenance, handling, and Chain of Custody distribution
- Collaborating with project managers, Quality Assurance, and engineering teams on material compliance
- Developing and implementing material control processes, documentation, and tracking procedures
- Identifying and resolving material-related issues (delivery discrepancies, damaged goods, supply chain delays, vendor performance)
- Optimizing material flow to reduce waste, minimize costs, and improve productivity
- Ensuring all material handling complies with safety regulations, environmental requirements, and company policies
- Preparing regular reports on inventory status, material costs, vendor performance, and project risks
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in industrial or heavy construction material management
- Knowledge of industrial construction practices, codes, and material specifications (structural steel, concrete, piping, electrical, mechanical, etc.)
- Strong organizational and logistics skills with experience coordinating multiple complex project needs
- Proficiency with inventory management systems, material/equipment tracking programs, and construction scheduling software
- Excellent communication, vendor management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced industrial environments and collaborate across multiple construction disciplines
- Intermediate knowledge of transportation and equipment loading/unloading logistics
- Intermediate knowledge of rigging, loading, equipment rigging points, and safety best practices
- Intermediate knowledge of scheduling processes and industry best practices
- Intermediate interpersonal relationship skills and ability to build positive relationships toward common goals
- Ability to assume responsibility and communicate effectively with others
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and people efficiently in fast-paced environments
- Proven self-starter and self-motivated to learn and grow
- Knowledge of construction scheduling and production time management (preferred)
- Physical capability: standing, lifting, and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Ability to work all required shift hours, overtime, and/or weekends as needed
