Proxima Fusion, Europe's fastest-growing and best-funded fusion company, is seeking a Site Development Program Manager to lead its site development portfolio across multiple parallel projects. The company is developing next-generation stellarator fusion power plants (Alpha and Stellaris) and is backed by over €650M in funding, with teams across Munich, Zurich, and Oxford. In this role, you will own Proxima Fusion's entire site development program, spanning projects including Stellaris, manufacturing and testing infrastructure, and other site development initiatives. You'll serve as the connective tissue across the portfolio, ensuring feasibility, stakeholder relationships, and permitting strategy are handled coherently rather than optimized in silos. Key responsibilities include: - Leading the site development program across multiple parallel projects, owning feasibility, stakeholder relationships, and permitting strategy - Working closely with individual project managers to align schedules, budgets, and deliverables to a unified program roadmap - Defining and running the program's decision-gate structure from initial approval through final investment decision, including deliverables, readiness levels, and cost/schedule tracking - Representing Proxima Fusion to site owners, utility partners, and key stakeholders, building constructive partnerships across sites with different regulatory contexts - Owning the permitting landscape across the portfolio, including radiation protection law, environmental permitting, building permits, and other approvals; sequencing parallel approval processes into one coherent strategy - Building organizational and infrastructure scaling plans that extend beyond near-term needs, from initial capacity toward multi-GW scale - Reporting program status, risks, and key decisions to senior leadership You'll work in a small, fast-moving team where your decisions on equipment, quality, and process directly shape how the company produces superconducting magnets and develops fusion infrastructure. The role combines deep technical coordination with stakeholder management and regulatory navigation in a first-of-a-kind, heavily regulated environment. REQUIREMENTS: - Extensive experience leading greenfield or brownfield energy or industrial site development programs through to final investment decision, ideally on former or adjacent nuclear sites or other heavily regulated sites - Track record of managing multiple projects in parallel at different stages of maturity, using a structured, gate-based approach - Skilled at building productive relationships with incumbent site owners and utilities, and comfortable working within formal, process-driven stakeholder cultures - Ability to pull together detailed technical requirements from engineers and specialists without needing a deep engineering background - Fluent in German and English (required for regulatory and stakeholder landscape) - Comfortable building program structure from scratch in a fast-scaling, first-of-a-kind environment
