Helsing is a defence AI company focused on protecting democracies through technological leadership. You will design and build simulation environments that support mission analysis for large satellite constellations, enabling both hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop testing before deployment to orbit. In this role, you'll own the full lifecycle of simulation infrastructure: building and maintaining environments used for critical engineering and programme decisions, integrating real flight hardware (e.g., flight computers, payload controllers) into test rigs, and wiring simulations into automated CI/CD pipelines. You'll model complex physics—orbital dynamics, attitude control, sensor/actuator behavior, thermal effects, RF links—at the fidelity each analysis question demands, then validate those models against test and flight data. You'll translate simulation results into actionable trade studies, requirements evidence, and design recommendations. Cross-functional collaboration is central: you'll work with partners and suppliers to integrate their models and hardware, negotiate expected fidelity levels, and resolve discrepancies when subsystems run together. Key qualifications: proven delivery of both SIL and HIL systems with real hardware in the loop; strong physics and modelling judgment; several years of production-grade software in large shared codebases (Python plus Rust or modern C++); ability to architect environments serving both fast batch runs and full-fidelity wall-clock validation; confidence explaining technical results and their limits to non-specialists across organizational boundaries. The company emphasizes thoughtful development and deployment of powerful technologies, welcomes healthy debate on ethical implications, and actively encourages applications from underrepresented groups.
