Salary: USD 198,050 - 233,000 / annual
Oura is seeking a Silicon Architect to define custom silicon for the next generation of its award-winning wearable health products. The Oura Ring and connected app help millions of users understand their readiness, activity, and sleep quality through daily insights and practical health guidance.
In this role, you will be the bridge between Oura's product, hardware, firmware, software, and operations teams and external semiconductor partners. You will gather cross-functional requirements and translate them into clear silicon architectures, specifications, and roadmaps. Your responsibilities include:
- Defining custom-silicon architectures that balance performance, power, size, schedule, cost, and risk for wearable platforms
- Synthesizing requirements from product, hardware, firmware, software, algorithms, sensing, and operations teams into measurable silicon capabilities and performance/power targets
- Partnering with semiconductor vendors to assess architecture options and drive execution within product timelines
- Leading technical discussions and trade-off decisions across compute, memory, connectivity, security, power, packaging, test, and manufacturing
- Working with internal teams and vendors to define validation, characterization, bring-up, and production-readiness plans
- Staying current on emerging semiconductor technologies, process capabilities, and packaging approaches relevant to wearable health
You bring 10+ years of experience in semiconductor definition, SoC/ASIC development, or system architecture for high-volume consumer electronics. You have deep expertise in low-power design, semiconductor development flows (architecture through production ramp), and direct experience working with semiconductor vendors and foundries. You understand compute blocks (CPUs, NPUs, DSPs), memory systems, connectivity, and embedded interfaces. You excel at operating in ambiguous environments, organizing complex work, and driving alignment across technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong communication skills and demonstrated technical leadership are essential.
