Apex manufactures satellite buses (spacecraft platforms) at scale for the commercial space industry. As a Sensors Systems Engineer, you will own sensor products across the complete development lifecycle—from concept and architecture through design, analysis, prototyping, qualification, and production deployment. You will serve as the technical authority and Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for sensor subsystems, driving trade studies that balance performance, cost, and risk. Key responsibilities include: **System Ownership:** Own sensor products end-to-end, managing project budget, schedule, and cross-functional teams. Support production by providing technical solutions and guidance when issues arise. **Test Engineering:** Develop and execute verification, validation, and qualification campaigns. Create test plans, procedures, and reports. Collaborate on test stations and ground support equipment (GSE/STE). Perform failure investigations and root cause analyses to inform future designs. **Technical Development:** Conduct system- and component-level trade studies to optimize performance, cost, schedule, and risk. Collaborate across structures, thermal, optics, avionics, software, GNC, manufacturing, and supply chain teams. Present technical work at design reviews and create thorough engineering documentation. Required: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Software Engineering (or related field). Hands-on experience developing, prototyping, integrating, and testing multidisciplinary systems. Demonstrated hardware, project, or product ownership. Strong test engineering fundamentals. Leadership and organizational skills. Comfort with clean-sheet subsystem architecture in open design spaces. Preferred: 1–2 years aerospace/automotive/technical product development experience. Master's degree. Sensor systems design/test experience. Design for Manufacturing (DFM/DFMA) familiarity. Satellite systems and space environment knowledge. Full hardware product lifecycle experience.
