Salary: USD 180,000 - 300,000 / annual
MoonPay Enterprise is hiring backend engineers to build the operating system for value movement across crypto, stablecoins, tokenized assets, and financial infrastructure. The company powers how stablecoins move through real financial operations for enterprises, fintechs, payment service providers, wallets, and marketplaces.
You'll design, build, and operate backend services written in Rust that process high volumes of financial transactions with strong guarantees around correctness, idempotency, and auditability. You'll own features end-to-end, from shaping product specs through technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production monitoring. Rather than receiving work from product, you'll act as a domain expert helping define what gets built and proposing work you consider most valuable.
Three distinct tracks are available:
**Track 1: KYB/KYC & Compliance Platform** — Build systems enabling enterprises to onboard safely and stay compliant across dozens of jurisdictions. You'll own services powering business and individual verification flows, risk scoring, sanctions and AML screening, case management, and integrations with identity and compliance vendors. The challenge is making rigorous compliance feel invisible: fast, automated, and globally scalable without compromising regulatory obligations.
**Track 2: New Product Lines (Custody)** — Join at the ground floor of new enterprise products, starting with Custody. You'll design backend systems for secure digital asset storage and management for institutional clients, including key management workflows, policy engines, transaction authorization, ledger integrity, and audit trails. This track suits engineers who love ambiguity, greenfield architecture, and building products from zero to one with enterprise-grade security.
**Track 3: Blockchain, Stablecoin Issuance & On-Chain Infrastructure** — Work directly with blockchain protocols to power stablecoin issuance and on-chain products. You'll build services for minting, burning, and managing fully reserved stablecoins across chains, develop smart contract integrations on EVM chains and Solana, and design indexing, monitoring, and reconciliation systems keeping on-chain and off-chain state in sync.
Across all tracks, you'll integrate with external partners such as banks, payment processors, blockchains, and identity vendors; build abstractions making those integrations reliable; improve engineering quality across observability, incident response, and security; and collaborate closely with product, compliance, and engineering teams globally. At Staff level, you'll set technical direction for your area, mentor other engineers, and drive architectural decisions spanning multiple teams.
MoonPay Enterprise operates like a startup inside a scale-up: small, senior, high-throughput teams with real ownership, direct access to customers and decision-makers, and backing from MoonPay's global licenses, banking relationships, and distribution network. The pace is high—features ship in hours to days, products in days to weeks.
**Requirements:**
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience (8+ for Staff level), with a track record of shipping and operating production systems at scale
- Strong backend experience with a statically compiled language (Rust, Go, C#, C++) is a must; deep fundamentals matter more than specific language history
- Solid fundamentals in distributed systems, API design, data modeling, and asynchronous processing
- Comfort working in domains where precision matters (financial systems, double-entry ledgers, reconciliation, or similarly correctness-critical software)
- Pragmatic, autonomous, ownership-driven mindset; you care about outcomes, communicate clearly, and thrive on high throughput
- Strong critical thinking in how you use AI tools; you know how to drive AI-assisted development productively while staying in control of correctness, security, and design quality
- Interest in crypto, stablecoins, and the future of payments (prior crypto experience is a plus except for Track 3, where hands-on blockchain development experience is expected)
- Prior professional Rust experience is not required, but interest in Rust and motivation to become an expert are very welcome
**Bonus qualifications:**
- Professional or hobby experience writing Rust (open-source contributions count)
- Experience in fiat payments, banking integrations, card networks, or PSPs
- Familiarity with KYC/KYB, AML, sanctions screening, or regulated financial products (Track 1)
- Background in custody, key management (MPC/HSM), or institutional-grade security (Track 2)
- Smart contract development in Solidity (EVM) or Rust (Solana), and experience with on-chain indexing or node infrastructure (Track 3)
- Experience working in regulated, multi-jurisdiction environments
