Abridge is an AI-powered healthcare platform that transforms patient-clinician conversations into structured clinical notes in real-time. Founded in 2018, the company has built enterprise-grade technology with deep EMR integrations and is a pioneer in responsible generative AI deployment across health systems.
As a Senior/Staff Front End Engineer, you will play a key role in technology decisions and implementation for Abridge's growing team. You'll primarily build React and TypeScript applications, working across APIs and other codebases to scale the business by designing and supporting easy-to-use interfaces.
Key responsibilities include: designing and building React/TypeScript applications; setting standards for accessibility and design system usage; making technology decisions that balance business needs with security, privacy, and quality; enhancing existing systems for new functionality and performance improvements; advocating for high standards and reducing technical debt; building deep user empathy; communicating effectively across cross-functional teams (design, product, ML, infrastructure); and mentoring other engineers.
You bring 7+ years of web application development experience with 5+ years specifically in React. You've independently delivered features or small web apps and are excited about the mobile tech stack including React, TypeScript, and potentially Electron. You work autonomously while collaborating well in team environments, pitch in wherever needed in a fast-moving startup, and are comfortable working across domains and languages. Critically, you have deep expertise using AI tools to accelerate engineering workflows over the past couple of years. Bonus experience includes audio playback, audio recording, file encryption, or online/offline mode support.
Abridge has offices in San Francisco (Mission District), New York (SoHo), and Pittsburgh (East Liberty). The company offers flexible work arrangements, comprehensive health coverage, 401(k) matching, paid parental leave, sabbatical leave after 5 years, mental health support, and a lifestyle wallet for professional development.
