TurbineOne is a defense technology startup building perception and decision-support systems for military and intelligence operations. The company delivers automation, situational awareness, and force protection capabilities for complex operational environments, with a focus on keeping humans in the loop for critical decisions. This Senior/Staff DevOps Engineer role owns the design, implementation, and operation of production infrastructure with significant autonomy. The primary focus is expanding automated testing infrastructure for edge hardware deployed globally, enabling remote testing across heterogeneous device platforms. Key responsibilities include: - Design and operate production-quality infrastructure systems - Build automated testing platforms for software running on diverse edge hardware - Make tests reproducible and failures easy to diagnose across hardware platforms - Enable Product Engineering and QA teams to contribute automated tests while DevOps owns the platform evolution - Improve CI/CD pipelines, build/release systems, deployment automation, and developer tooling - Identify high-leverage engineering opportunities and drive major initiatives from ambiguity to successful operation - Partner with engineering teams to improve developer productivity and software quality Required qualifications include demonstrated Senior- or Staff-level impact designing and owning software systems, strong programming ability in production languages (Python, Bash, Go, TypeScript), and experience in infrastructure disciplines such as SRE, Production Engineering, CI/CD, Build & Release, Developer Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, or Test Infrastructure. Candidates should have strong Linux, container, networking, and operational troubleshooting expertise, plus practical experience designing automated testing at various levels. Bonus experience includes hardware-in-the-loop testing, test infrastructure platforms, remote device fleet orchestration, edge/embedded systems, performance testing, chaos engineering, and distributed systems at scale. The role is fully remote within the United States with approximately 2-4 times per year travel.
