CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Wire Harness Design Engineer to join their Austin-based team developing advanced communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and aerospace platforms.
In this role, you will take full ownership of wire harness design projects, spanning the complete lifecycle from initial specification definition through integration and testing. Your responsibilities include schematic development, cable routing optimization, connector selection, and creation of harness assembly drawings. You will design the critical power, digital, analog, and RF interconnects that integrate subsystems into cohesive space and airborne platforms.
You will work in a highly collaborative environment, partnering closely with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and harness assembly technicians. This cross-functional approach ensures designs are both technically sound and manufacturability-optimized. You will participate in design reviews, providing technical expertise and recommendations to enhance system performance and reliability.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in aerospace or space hardware wire harness design, with deep knowledge of interconnect standards, cable management best practices, and the unique constraints of space and airborne environments. You should be comfortable with design tools, schematic software, and have a track record of delivering complex harness designs that meet stringent reliability and performance requirements.
This is a startup environment offering the opportunity to work on cutting-edge hardware with significant technical autonomy and cross-functional engagement. You will see your designs directly impact real satellite and aerospace systems.
