Recall.ai is seeking a Founding Internal Products Engineer to establish and own the company's internal tools function. With $38M in revenue and rapid growth, the company operates with a lean team and is looking for an engineer to build software that multiplies operational capacity through automation and AI.
You'll be the eleventh engineering hire and the first dedicated to internal products. Your initial focus will be on sales and finance workflows—understanding where processes break across systems, teams, and spreadsheets, then building solutions that unblock deals, prevent billing errors, and return hours to teams each week.
Key responsibilities include:
- Discovering and prioritizing problems by working directly with sales, finance, and other teams to understand broken workflows
- Building and maintaining applications, integrations, and automations from conception through deployment and ongoing support
- Owning the roadmap for the internal products function, starting with revenue-critical workflows and expanding company-wide as you learn the business
- Resolving urgent blockers while fixing their root causes
- Establishing how the team discovers problems, prioritizes work, and measures results
You'll have direct access to your users—spotting problems in the morning and shipping improvements they use that afternoon. The role emphasizes product judgment, workflow understanding, and the ability to navigate tradeoffs with non-technical stakeholders. You'll have unlimited access to Claude and freedom to explore what modern AI models can automate.
Ideal candidates uncover what people actually need through good questions and workflow analysis, have strong product judgment about scope and prioritization, can ship and maintain full-stack solutions (applications, APIs, SQL integrations), and are curious about business operations. Prior experience with internal tools, CRMs, billing platforms, or AI automation is valuable but not required. Sales or finance background is not necessary.
Expect substantial time on workflow exploration, testing, and scope decisions alongside coding. Urgent business problems may shift priorities, and you'll need comfort with that dynamic environment.
