Dovetail is a Customer Intelligence Platform that unifies fragmented customer feedback from sales calls, support tickets, and research into a single AI-powered layer. Founded in 2017, the company has 100+ employees across Sydney and San Francisco, serving Fortune 500 companies and innovative startups.
As Senior Web Engineer, you will own dovetail.com end-to-end, partnering with Marketing, Creative, and Engineering teams. You'll be responsible for both the customer-facing website and the systems that power it, shipping high-craft pages and interactions while improving architecture, components, content models, and delivery workflows.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning production health, technical roadmap, and architecture of the marketing website
- Building responsive, accessible, production-quality pages and interactions that protect design intent
- Developing reusable components, design tokens, typed content models, and authoring workflows to enable fast, safe launches
- Partnering with Demand Generation and Growth to optimize landing pages, forms, CTAs, personalization, and high-intent journeys
- Improving Core Web Vitals, page weight, image delivery, accessibility, and deployment reliability
- Leveraging AI-powered coding agents and workflows to improve implementation, testing, and quality assurance
- Setting standards through code review, documentation, and clear architecture decisions
You bring 5+ years of production web experience with deep expertise in React and TypeScript, plus strong fundamentals in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, browser behavior, and rendering. You have demonstrated performance and accessibility craft, hands-on debugging skills, and commercial judgment about balancing engineering quality with launch speed. AI fluency is essential—you use coding agents like Claude or Codex to move faster without outsourcing engineering judgment. You're a systems thinker comfortable owning platforms end-to-end, including build tooling, deployment, and observability. You sweat details, collaborate across functions, and have a bias toward shipping strong implementations and learning from real behavior.
Experience with NextJS, GraphQL, Emotion, Netlify, Buildkite, Segment, HubSpot, or Salesforce is useful but not required; strong fundamentals and evidence of what you've built matter more. This is a full-time, in-person-first role based in Surry Hills HQ (4 days per week in office).
