As a Senior Vehicle Certification Engineer at Impulse, you will lead critical flight systems certification activities in close collaboration with vehicle engineering and mission management teams. Your primary responsibility is ensuring that Impulse develops robust processes and systems for customer review to evaluate mission readiness.
Key responsibilities include:
• Develop and maintain systems to document Impulse and customer interactions, feedback, and track customer approval and acceptance milestones
• Partner with the vehicle engineering team to build and optimize engineering process flows that deliver customer-ready documentation and deliverables
• Analyze government and commercial customer requirements and industry standards to assess compatibility with Impulse product lines
• Conduct specialized analysis supporting verification activities; lead or participate in tests and demonstrations to verify requirements, including joint testing with customers
• Serve as a technical point of contact with customers, independently explaining vehicle design and functionality and answering complex technical questions
• Drive process improvements across engineering, manufacturing, and management systems to enhance Impulse operations while maintaining alignment with customer requirements and standards
• Support launch and mission operations as needed
Required qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or science
• 5+ years of demonstrated aerospace industry experience
• Direct hands-on experience in design, manufacturing, analysis, and testing of liquid propulsion systems, launch systems, or spacecraft
• Strong proficiency in fundamental principles of fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanics, and materials science
• Experience with vehicle structural elements including primary structures, pressurized structures, welded structures, thermal insulation, and secondary structures
• Demonstrated ability to take project ownership and work effectively in collaborative team environments
