Carma is a digital pre-owned car dealership disrupting the Australian automotive industry by making car buying and selling seamless and enjoyable. As the first Senior UX Designer in the Product team, you will own end-to-end UX design across web and mobile platforms, shaping how thousands of customers experience the entire car-buying journey—from discovery through checkout, financing, and final purchase.
You will be responsible for designing customer journeys that feel simple, human, and intuitive, handling both the happy path and edge cases. This is a foundational role where you'll set design standards, build scalable design systems, and establish how Carma approaches design craft. You'll combine big-picture systems thinking with pixel-level polish, bringing curiosity and experimentation to complex problems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own end-to-end UX design across web and mobile, from early sketches through polished, high-fidelity UI
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and competitive analysis; leverage AI tools to identify patterns and uncover smarter solutions
- Map complete customer journeys, including edge cases and failure scenarios
- Build and evolve design systems that maintain consistency and scalability
- Create rapid prototypes to validate ideas and build stakeholder alignment
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and business teams throughout the product lifecycle
- Experiment with emerging AI design tools and workflows, sharing learnings to elevate team capability
Requirements:
- 5+ years designing customer-facing digital products, ideally in B2C, eCommerce, FinTech, or similarly fast-moving environments
- Strong UX thinking with solid interaction design, information architecture, and visual craft skills
- Advanced Figma proficiency; confident in prototyping and building design systems
- Experience running or contributing to user research and usability testing; ability to translate insights into design decisions
- Curiosity about AI in design and willingness to experiment actively
- Ability to communicate design decisions clearly to stakeholders without jargon
- Comfort with ambiguity; ability to help shape briefs rather than waiting for perfect specifications
- Natural collaborator who welcomes feedback and prioritizes outcomes over ego
