Salary: USD 179,000 - 226,000 / annual
FalconX is a pioneering institutional crypto trading platform that bridges traditional finance and digital assets. The company provides comprehensive solutions for complex trading strategies, market navigation, and liquidity management in cryptocurrency markets.
You will architect and build the core electronic trading execution platform, responsible for low-latency components that sit on the hot path of the execution stack. This includes market-data ingestion, order management systems (OMS/EMS), risk checks, session control, and high-throughput venue connectivity. You'll design scalable, resilient services optimized for microsecond-level latency and heavy load conditions.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and optimize scalable services using Rust and Java, with focus on latency and throughput performance
- Develop low-latency services on Aeron, including OMS/EMS components, market-data pipelines, and exchange gateway connectivity
- Integrate with exchange APIs using FIX, REST, WebSocket, and venue-specific protocols
- Model complex order lifecycles and state machines into resilient, observable, fault-tolerant services
- Design and maintain SBE message schemas and high-throughput message-bus communication on Aeron
- Own full software development lifecycle for your domain: design, test, ship, and monitor
- Collaborate with quant, trading, infrastructure, and data teams to meet performance, safety, and reliability targets
- Operate in a fast-paced Agile environment, contributing to team structure and sprint planning
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in trading systems, ideally with prior design ownership
- Strong background in Rust and/or Java (11+), including performance profiling, concurrency, lock-free programming, GC tuning, and memory-safe systems design
- Experience building EMS and execution systems operating in microseconds latency range
- Deep understanding of order state machines, execution workflows, and institutional trade lifecycle mechanics
- Strong experience with Aeron or other high-throughput messaging frameworks
- Hands-on experience integrating with FIX, REST, and WebSocket APIs
- Strong experience designing normalized schemas and working with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
- Experience with low-touch and high-touch trading (market making, RFQ, internalization)
- Experience building scalable trade data pipelines and automated reconciliation systems for real-time monitoring, trade surveillance, and audit compliance
- Experience with Agile delivery, sprint planning, and team leadership
- Passion for clean architecture, maintainability, and performance
Bonus: Prior crypto market or traditional finance electronic trading experience; experience integrating execution platforms with strategy containers, risk engines, or smart order routers; FIX protocol expertise; exposure to container orchestration or service mesh architectures.
