The Senior Technical Program Manager for Mathematical Software & Algorithms will oversee the development, execution, and delivery of Battlespace Awareness software for critical defense programs. This role serves as the linchpin ensuring software meets all technical, functional, and business requirements while adhering to planned schedules. Battlespace Awareness software comprises advanced algorithms for sense-making and decision-making at tactical timelines.
Key responsibilities include:
**Project Leadership & Strategy**: Develop and maintain detailed project execution plans covering feature development, testing, validation, deployment, and monitoring. Establish clear objectives and deliverables aligned with program needs.
**Technical Expertise**: Maintain deep understanding of underlying algorithms and software interfaces for battle management, threat prediction, tracking, and classification. Ensure relevant services integrate effectively with the larger C2 system. Stay updated on latest techniques and work with subject matter experts to incorporate innovations.
**Documentation & Process Improvement**: Ensure comprehensive documentation of technical specifications, user manuals, and project reports. Continuously evaluate and improve project management processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
**Release Management**: Oversee planning and execution of software release processes, ensuring smooth and efficient deployment. Verify all releases meet defined quality standards before deployment.
**Stakeholder Communication**: Serve as primary point of contact for all project-related communications internally and externally. Regularly update stakeholders on project status, risks, and milestones through reports and presentations.
**Resource Allocation**: Assess and allocate necessary resources including personnel, software, and hardware. Monitor utilization and adjust to avoid bottlenecks.
**Risk Management**: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies with subject matter experts. Regularly review and update risk management plans.
**Cross-Functional Collaboration**: Work with other divisions to ensure software supports program priorities and meets integration requirements. Facilitate communication between Battlespace Awareness business line and other stakeholders.
**Requirements:**
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
- Extensive project management experience, preferably in software development
- Demonstrable understanding of optimization, applied probability, and AI/ML technology
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
- Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and GitHub
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage high-pressure situations and tight deadlines
- Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. security clearance
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Familiarity and experience working with materiel leadership or mission partners within Army Air & Missile Defense, USMC Ground Based Air Defense, SOCOM, DHS CBP, or allied defense organizations
- Working knowledge of counter-UAS and air surveillance competitive landscape
- Experience working on or alongside teams developing mathematical software such as optimization solvers, estimation engines, simulation frameworks, or applied probability models
