Radiant is building the world's first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company's flagship product, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe microreactor designed for rapid deployment to hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases. Founded in 2020, Radiant is preparing for initial customer deliveries in 2028.
As a Senior Tooling Engineer, you will partner with design and manufacturing teams to develop custom production equipment for fabricating and assembling the Kaleidos microreactor system. You'll be part of the early team building the factory infrastructure for mass production, fueling, and refueling operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and developing innovative production equipment for complex mechanisms and reactor structures
- Designing, analyzing, and fabricating equipment enabling semi-remote fueling and defueling operations
- Identifying and qualifying component suppliers and fabrication partners
- Collaborating closely with design engineers and manufacturing teams on equipment specifications
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or related engineering discipline
- 4+ years of experience in mechanical equipment design and multi-component assembly fabrication
- Proficiency in CAD (NX or similar)
- Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) applied to fabrication drawings
Desired qualifications include a Master's degree, proficiency with analytical methods and finite element analysis, experience with custom machine design (electromechanical systems, motors, actuators, linear rails, bearings, lifting/rigging), strong problem-solving skills, and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams.
This is a 100% onsite role at Radiant's El Segundo headquarters. The position requires willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed. Compensation includes base salary, substantial equity grants, and comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision, 8 weeks paid parental leave, flexible PTO, catered lunch, and team events).
