Voyager Technologies is seeking a Senior Thermal Systems Engineer to shape the future of lunar technologies and missions. Based in Pittsburgh, PA with hybrid flexibility, you will define end-to-end mission concepts for NASA, government, and commercial customers, directly influencing the technologies and architectures that drive next-generation lunar landers, surface systems, and spacecraft. Key responsibilities include developing and reviewing concepts and designs for lunar landers, rovers, surface power systems, and spacecraft. You will perform thermal design and analysis for all mission concepts, right-sizing thermal architectures to meet end-to-end mission objectives and requirements. You'll identify and develop next-generation thermal management systems for lunar spacecraft and resolve system-level impacts driven by thermal design requirements. You will support technical content creation for mission opportunities and internal development programs, develop and perform trade studies to support technical, business, and programmatic decision-making, and contribute to programmatic topics such as schedules, resourcing, and budget estimations. Cross-functional collaboration is essential—you'll communicate with other engineering disciplines, partners, customers, and vendors to resolve technical risks and challenges, occasionally participating in customer visits and technical interchange meetings. You will translate abstract customer requirements into actionable product goals and system architectures for proposals and stakeholder presentations, participate in cross-functional team meetings to ensure engineering solutions comply with mission and business needs, and support the system-level technical vision for new products by connecting customer needs with feasible, high-performing solutions. Required: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline plus 5–10 years of relevant engineering experience (advanced degree may substitute for experience). Demonstrated experience in space system development, systems engineering, structure/thermal design and analysis, mechanical & fluid systems, and/or manufacturing. Experience developing technical content for proposals and external presentations, authoring and decomposing mission and system-level requirements, and strong understanding of launch, space, and lunar environments. Desired: Full end-to-end mission solution understanding, mission architecture development experience, software scripting for automation & analysis, knowledge of NASA/industry engineering standards, agile environment experience with tools like Confluence and Jira, and eligibility to obtain and hold a U.S. security clearance.
